Eclipses occur when a new moon or full moon is near one of the lunar nodes, which is why they manifest as fated events – since the nodes represent destiny.

This is a time to allow the universe (God, fate – call it as you will) to re-route your internal GPS and align you with the right path on your life’s journey. That’s why it’s best to let things unfold naturally, no matter how uncomfortable it may feel, and to avoid initiating anything new until after the eclipse season, which ends with the solar eclipse in Aries on March 29.

Lunar eclipses tend to bring inner, psychological shifts, while solar eclipses manifest more outwardly. Pay attention to any significant realizations during this time, as well as to external signs that may offer guidance.

During this total lunar eclipse, the Full Moon in Virgo is conjunct the South Node. The South Node represents the soul’s lessons learned from past lifetimes and the karmic baggage that needs to be released in this lifetime.

With the eclipse in Virgo, the focus is on shedding inherited negative patterns, such as obsessive-compulsive tendencies, relentless perfectionism driven by destructive criticism, non-stop hard work, and overthinking. This is a time to embrace faith over the need for absolute control and radical self-reliance. It’s about excelling without excessive analysis.

Virgo energy is centered on improving the quality of life through health regimens and daily routines. It’s about making the world a better place through service. So, less judgment – more service, so to speak.

Saturn is opposing this Full Moon, further emphasizing old patterns that limit growth. What are you willing to release before it is taken away?

Virgo and Pisces placements will naturally feel this eclipse energy the most, followed by Gemini and Sagittarius.

The last time there was a total lunar eclipse in Virgo was in February 2008 – and we all know what happened shortly after.

Total lunar eclipses can be seen by anyone on the side of the Earth facing the Moon, unlike total solar eclipses, which are visible only along a narrow path. This makes a lunar eclipse a global event, visible to many.

The totality – when the Moon is completely covered by Earth’s shadow – starts at 2:26 AM EDT on March 14 and lasts 65 minutes.

The Moon takes on its crimson color due to the long red wavelengths of sunlight that filter through Earth’s atmosphere when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align perfectly, fully obscuring the Moon in Earth’s shadow – hence the term “Blood Moon”.
